“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
ASV If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee, leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
“If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother.
ASV And if thy brother sin against thee, go, show him his fault between thee and him alone: if he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
ASV A soft answer turneth away wrath; But a grievous word stirreth up anger.
When a man’s ways please Yahweh, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
ASV When a man’s ways please Jehovah, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
The beginning of strife is like breaching a dam, therefore stop contention before quarreling breaks out.
ASV The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: Therefore leave off contention, before there is quarrelling.
It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.

ASV Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; But to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.
ASV Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men.
Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
ASV And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for them that make peace.
