Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.
ASV Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; Yea, with all thy getting get understanding.
Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding. For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold.
ASV Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, And the man that getteth understanding. For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, And the profit thereof than fine gold.
For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it.
ASV For wisdom is better than rubies; And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared unto it.
For whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh.
ASV For whoso findeth me findeth life, And shall obtain favor of Jehovah.
How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
ASV How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.
My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you, so as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;
ASV My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee; So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding;
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul. He who keeps understanding shall find good.
ASV He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: He that keepeth understanding shall find good.
so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward: Your hope will not be cut off.
ASV So shalt thou know wisdom to be unto thy soul; If thou hast found it, then shall there be a reward, And thy hope shall not be cut off.
“But where will wisdom be found? Where is the place of understanding?
ASV But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?
For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.
ASV For wisdom is a defence, even as money is a defence; but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom preserveth the life of him that hath it.
